A collage showing Holker Hall and Gardens
Paul and me visited our caravan to leave keys for his cousin, who is staying there next week.
We then visited Holker Hall, in Cark in Cartmel.
It is currently owned and lived in by Lucy Cavendish.
The house is open to the public, apart from the older rooms dating to the 1600s, where the family reside.
The craved oak staircase is outstanding craftsmanship.
The gardens are fantastic, and home to many ancient trees, including the Great Holker Lime.
I love ancient trees and the Lorton Yew in another favourite in the Lake District.
The eating area and toilets were high standard and the staff welcoming and friendly.
There was no music so I was delighted.
