Prom No' 67
Travelled down to Mum and Dad's yesterday. Late morning into London, watched some good piano playing at St Pancras (see Extra), then the tube from King's Cross to Victoria.
We took a route via Elisabeth St, and spent an interesting hour in Jo Loves, , which is the real Jo Malone. I have no sense of smell, but J has an amazing one - so pure heaven for her. Lunch next at the Thomas Cubitt. My first Goat Burger !
Then a walk through Belgravia, which the Duke of Westminster owns (Chester Square, Eaton Square, Cheshire House - Cheshire place names everywhere), to the Thames to have a look at the redevelopment of Battersea Power Station. Apartments for oligarchs and sheiks.
Then through Chelsea and South Kensington to the Albert Hall for Prom 67. The John Wilson Orchestra, Maida Vale Choir and soloists playing Bernstein. I'd never heard some of the pieces before. It was all fantastic and playing to a packed house. The TV cameras and sound desk were there - we're looking forward to seeing it again on the Beeb.
