'A Day in London'

What a fabulous day in London....my daughter Kelly met me at Victoria Station. We had gone up specifically to see 'The Audrey Hepburn Photographic Exhibition' at the National Portrait Gallery...but to our dismay it was fully booked. We SHOULD have prebooked! Lesson learnt.

The reason we were late was that we wanted to see 'The Rising Tide' at Vauxhall Bridge. A great display of four Horses at low tide in the Thames, by. Sculptor, Jason DeCaires Taylor. The heads are oil pumps, reflecting fossil fuels Two businessmen and two children alluding to the people who currently control resources versus those whose futures are
at stake. We caught the low tide.........they disappear when the tide is full!

A walk along Southbank, coffee, then onto Covent Garden to see the wonderful art installation named 'Heartbeat' by French artist Charles Petillon..representing the heart of Covent Garden area. A gently pulsating light is designed to mimic the heart.....100,000 balloons.

We had lunch at our favourite pub 'White Lion' in Covent Garden..then made our way to the National Portrait Gallery.....only to discover we couldnt get in to the main thing we had travelled to London for. However, we didn't let it upset us...went to the National Gallery, then had a brief enjoyable sitdown in St.Martin's-in-the-Field church where we enjoyed a rehearsal of violin music. Lots of walking, through St.Jame's Park up to Buckingham Palace, heard bagpipes playing and peeped through a hole in the fence to St.Jame's Palace, to see a wedding in progress. Down to Westminster, along Whitehall to Millennium Bridge. We eventually said goodbye to each other after a very long, enjoyable day! Its been so hard to choose photos.
