The French House

When I first came to London The French House in Soho was a regular haunt. Always filled with thesps, film makers and regular creative clientele looking for inspiration in a glass of wine or several. They only served half pints of lager. No beer. It was after all a wine bar with a fabulous selection of wine.

Gaston was the moustachioed proprietor of this historic establishment which laid claim to being the favourite watering hole of the French Resistance and DeGaulle. Photos of boxers and various thespian portraits decked the walls.

I'm glad to say that even with the passing over of Gaston it has survived the test of time. So tonight I popped in en route to Singing in the Rain and had a glass of their delicious rose to toast to days gone by.

And can anyone spot and and name the tv actor in my shot?
