Bay Search and Rescue

A local photographer, Glynis Bland, has undertaken a project '100 to 1' in which she photographed people aged from 100 to 1.  I was one of the 1958 entries.   Today marked the celebration of the project which had been in aid of several charities - Bay Search and Rescue, Macmillan Cancer Relief and Alder Hey Children's hospital.

Bay Search and Rescue was founded in 1999. The team is committed to providing all-terrain rescue vehicle support on and around the 'unique' Morecambe Bay, Lake District and North Lancashire area to HM Coastguard, North West Ambulance Service, Cumbria Fire & Rescue Service, Cumbria Police, Lancashire Fire & Rescue Service and Lancashire Police, via joint MOU partnership agreements.

Bay Search and Rescue specialises in rescue and recovery from quicksand, swiftwater, floodwater, snow and ice using a fleet of ex-military Hagglund BV206 all terrain amphibious rescue vehicles, 4x4's, support vehicles and trained personnel. They also search for missing persons, and assist the fire services with large animal rescue and wildfire incident support.

This is one of their vehicles at the gala event this afternoon.

An excellent event which looked set to raise lots of funds for the charities involved.

Well done Glynis - great idea.
