Underneath The Spreading Chestnut Tree...

....The Cottenham Brass Band were playing a delightful selection of tunes in the grounds of Cherry Hinton Hall. The park was full of people enjoying the September sunshine. Many, like myself, were there to enjoy the music, others with their families were having  picnics and some of the young children spent their time dancing and one even got their daddy to join in.  A couple of ladies were collecting the fallen sweet chestnuts, none of which fell amongst the band luckily. Cambridge City Council put these events on during the summer, sometimes with jazz bands where the Lindy Hoppers turn out to give a display and to encourage us to join in. On one occasion I encountered an old dancing partner, both of us long retired but we were still able to enjoy a jive on the grass, but we picked slower music !  The extra is of the soloists.
