Monday Outlook 7/9/15
Monday Outlook posts have been a bit spotty of late and next week's will be absent, so I have a trio of photographs today.
Main Pic: from the front door. I have so few flowering plants in my garden that I like to celebrate whatever I do have.
Extra Pic 1: Looking left (East) to Isegarth and Elsness, Peedie Sea beyond. Some beautiful heavy cloud that took the rain away with it as it passed by
Extra Pic 2: taken at the same time, believe it or not, but looking more or less straight out - slightly SW perhaps. The light very different in that direction.
The season has most certainly turned! There is a generally unsettled air about the island today -- and a great deal of noise. These seabirds appeared just as I lined up my shot, driven from the filed adjacent, where they have been making the most of the wet interlude and consequent disruption to the silage cutting, when some unhappy and very loud geese flew overhead - driven by the guns that were all too evident early this morning. (Yes, a rude awakening and yes, I am grumpy about it.)
It grieves me that a bird with Amber conservation status can be culled. I wish that some miracle could be worked to allow farmer and Greylag to live in peace and harmony together. I stood there and invited them to graze on our front garden but they just flew away to land somewhere far more dangerous, no doubt.
