Make Do & Mend
This evening we went to a Murder Mystery evening at Semer Barn. Make Do & Mend was written and directed by our friend Tom and is a 1940s Murder Mystery set around the murder of the local landowners son during an air raid. The audience is invited to dress in period dress to enter into the spirit of the evening (so we had to comply!!) and to try and solve the mystery of ‘Who dunnit’?! As part of the evening we listened to the music of The Andrew Sisters performed by The Three Chordettes led by Tom’s wife Sarah (see extra photo).
Whilst we had no idea who the murder was or what the motives were (It was the vicar who was actually German born and was a local spy. The victim was close to under covering his secret!) … we still had a great time, helped by the fish and chip supper!
I particularly enjoyed the singing as some of the songs were very familiar from airshows with a 40s theme. Also Sarah is leading the singing at our wedding in 2 weeks so it was lovely to hear her sing again.
As the Airshow season draws to a close we find ourselves entering Am-Dram season (with us actually missing the 1st read through for RATS panto!). This year will be interesting for me for as well as having a part in RATS panto I will be directing the Elmsett panto in February … but in the meantime there is 2 weeks left to finalise arrangements for our wedding … busy times!!
