Between fen and mountains

Mountain guide dog

We walked above Baillestavy, about 14k and 640 metres of ascent, and had some lovely views over the valleys and even down to the Mediterranean 30 miles away.  We walked past a remote farm on the way up and were joined by a dog that has the reputation of guiding walkers.  Its owner tried to prevent it coming but it managed to escape and joined us ten minutes later.  It then led the way for the next five hours until we reached our starting point.  The disc on its collar was illegible so we had to go into the village to find the owner's phone number for her to come and collect it.  I am not sure of the breed but it was certainly a very intelligent mountain herding dog.  A few more photos of the walk are here.
