Causey Pike and Grisedale Pike
15k trail race today and the day dawned cool and clear.
First it was down to the park to collect number and microchip and then a walk back up to the house for a mid-morning snack - this is the view from the end of mum's road.
The race began at 1pm so headed back down a bit before, still in glorious sunshine but not too hot and it stayed that way.
The uphill bog was wetter than last year and really hard work and I was rehearsing my excuses for being slower than last year - except I wasn't. Much to my amazement I was nearly 2 mins faster and about 2/3 down the field so pleased with that.
Mr Rat ran the race, starting an hour later, same route but with the fast people in. He was about 1/3 down the field, though slightly slower than last year.
After finishing we chatted to some folk, applauded the prize winners, went back to the house, went for fish and chips and once eaten returned home, getting back to Dundee about 10.30pm.
