Star of David

This gate post is just round the corner and belongs to John, a neighbour. There is a block if three grand Victorian villas, all with the Star of David on their gate posts. Blackburn no longer has a significant Jewish population but there was once a synagogue in the town. I wonder if these houses were built by a Jewish builder, for Jewish families of if the stone carver just liked the pattern.

I like the fact that the angles on the ivy leaves mirror the angles of the carving.
