Vandalised!
I have, for some months, been planning making some Sloe Gin this year, encoraged by the fact that the spring blossom on the blackthorn hedges in our nearby field had been profuse.
I checked out the situation about ten days ago, and the branches were laden with fruit.
Went out today to pick them - only to find ( as you can clearly see) that in his infinite wisdom and majesty the landowner had crudely chopped down all the heavily laden branches and left this horrible mess - and virtually all the fruit destroyed.
Not just intensely irritating to a would-be sloe gin maker, but also laying waste potential food for winter thrushes and other birds.
I am truly "sick as a parrot" and fed up with the whole business! No sloe gin from this hedge this year.
