Lathyrus Odoratus

This is the place....

More than three hundred years ago this spot would have been busy with men digging out the clay for the local brick works. They transformed this landscape by creating trackways leading to and from these huge shallow pits. Now they are filled with vegetation and, in wet years, dark black water with a bloom of green algae on top. Its a magical place that very few people ever see or visit. I like to walk through here in the early morning or evening light - although that's when the biting flies rise up to attack.
