Golden Rod Season
It could still be early in the Time of the Golden Rod for the bees to devour it. They are in love with the Japanese anemones and have been for a month.
Last year I had made a note to grow more varieties of Golden Rod because autumn changed to winter fast and the bees were nearly on top of one another for all that the Golden Rod had to offer.
Now, the fickle bees have not yet started on their Golden Rods... yet.
Today may well be the last day of summer here with a high so far of 33ºC (92ºF). Ugh! However, people here still carry the memory of the long, cold, heavily snowy winter just passed and do not complain. Usually if it goes above 80ºF there's grumbling all around the county.
The rain starts tomorrow and then the temperatures will get back to the comfortable 70's in the day time and 50's at night.
I keep hearing that another harsh winter is to be ours... not too long before we find out.
