My Dad
My Dad
My Dad went to Cambridge where he studied law. He worked for Costain and was Head of the Legal Dept by the end of his career. He enjoyed poetry, reading and was an expert at solving the Telegraph cryptic crossword. He started to develop signs of dementia probably about eighteen months ago and quickly lost the ability to enjoy all these things in the same way. We still had lots of fun but life was difficult for him and my Mum who was his main carer. Last September he passed away. I'm pleased to say he was able to stay living at home until only a short time before he died. I'm doing the Alzheimer's Society Memory Walk tomorrow to raise money this great organisation which provides so much practical support and information for those affected by the various forms of dementia which can affect absolutely anyone.
