Sutton Hoo

This a reconstruction of the boat that was buried at Sutton Hoo. An immensely interesting place to visit - we went there this afternoon after a disappointing hour spent this morning at Flatford Mill. Both are National Trust (we are members, so didn't have to pay entry or car parking). FM had lovely buildings but you could only go into one! So all it consisted of was a cafe and a few minutes walk along to the millpond where Constable painted "The Haywain". There are a lot of walks through the woods etc., but we went there to see the buildings!

Sutton Hoo had a great museum, a house set out in 1920's style (as it would have been when the excavation of the boat burial etc were undertaken) and a walk around the burial mounds. We spent about three hours there in total.

Another cool, grey day, but dry fortunately.
