Day 17 - Kayak to Meares Island

A five hour kayak day was great for a up close and more personal experience of the land and water.  Meares Island is another native island, and it has not been logged, although its status is not guaranteed.  In the 90's there was major protest and effort to block logging the island, and it worked - but nothing is truly sacred.  So although it is a native island much of it is not owned by native people, they simply have resided here for 10,000 years.  

The Extra is a warning of a change in weather - though we did not know that this lovely evening!
