Country wedding

Today I attended a wedding which was special on so many levels. The ceremony was supposed to have been in a field beside a derelict chapel but the weather turned serious and we had to decamp to a marquee - still in the field - which had been prepared with hay bales for seats and wonderful upturned leafy brollies for the ceiling. The bride was the daughter of a great friend and the groom a very courageous young man who had been badly injured serving in Afghanistan where he lost both legs. Following numerous operations over several years today he was able to walk proudly down the makeshift aisle on his new legs with his bride on his arm. The rain poured down, the guests donned wellies and carried colourful brollies but spirits were sky high and no-one will ever forget this very, very special service. I felt privileged to have been there.
