Changeable Skies

After a brief shower, tonight's sky looked like this as we headed into Southside Tavern.  Jon has just accepted/volunteered for a position as a Fund Raiser for a local group called Hope For Recovery New Hampshire, providing services to people who are looking for help with recovery from substance misuse (a new term).

Southside Tavern is owned by a man in long term (30 years) recovery.  It is mostly a poker parlor/bar/pub.  The food is great pub food, but the man who owns it is the real gem.  He has a very colorful past (and maybe present), but he has heart and he cares deeply about people and circumstances.  We met him less than a year ago when Jon's other venture, a website that follows New Hampshire high school football and basketball and where Jon is responsible for filming highlights of the football and basketball games for Division 1 schools in the area. He sponsored a night for the basketball finalists to come and watch their highlights on the "big screens".   Anyway, he let Jon know the first time they met that he knew about Sumner and how powerfully it hit him.  JT is well connected in the city of Manchester and knows some of the real "heavy hitters".  He wants to help with Hope For Recovery and make a difference.  Sometimes it is amazing how people can be brought together.
