Craxton Studios
This lovely 1920's Arts and Crafts style house in Hampstead is the home of Craxton Studios, a popular rehearsal venue for musicians from all over the world. It has also been used in film locations, most recently for the film The Theory of Everything as the Cambridge society room where Jane and Stephen meet for the first time.
It was also the venue today for the auditions of the National Youth Orchestra, where Thomas and I spent some time today. He went along reluctantly as he did not really want to audition but was asked to do so by his trumpet teacher - it meant missing an entire day of school which was not a good thing, he was concerned about missing important lessons. He ended up really enjoying the experience which consisted of a 30 minute warm up with the accompanist, a 20 minute audition where he played a piece of his choice followed by set orchestral excerpts (which were very difficult), and after an hour's break he played in a 25 minute workshop with all the other candidates.
It was a busy day and I got home with enough time to grab a bite to eat and am now heading out to the camera club at school.
