Music in the museum
Surprise guests this afternoon to Dunblane museum were the Shooglele band, a local ukulele group.
They played for nearly two hours in the library while upstairs in the gallery a film I made of them was also being shown.
I had persuaded them to come along to the museum, and at first they were very reluctant not believing they were yet ready for such public performances- but of course they were.
A busload of Welsh tourists from Pontypridd, visiting the cathedral, were delighted to hear music when they stepped in to the museum.
The Shooglele band are quite special: all are over 60 and none had played a ukulele until they joined this band.
Oh yes, most had never played a musical instrument either in their lives.
All this goes to prove you are never too old to take up music– all you need is a passion and a dedication to hard work and The Shooglele band have that in abundance.
