Second time around ....
.... for Pulsatilla caucasica which had it's main flowering time back in the Spring. This is a small flowered species .... and this flower is small even for the species, around 3cm across. It's been growing happily outside in a sunny raised bed for a couple of years.
A perfect late summer day, wall to wall sunshine. Somehow the events of the day contrived to prevent me from doing any gardening - something I intend to rectify tomorrow. We did buy two rather nice cane chairs for the summer house, to be delivered tomorrow :-)
Just 24 hours after leaving hospital Ruth made a return to Riding for the Disabled where she has been a volunteer helper for several years. It was a poignant return however, now she is in a wheelchair herself her role as a helper is massively diminished. She was quite down afterwards, the reality of her current state is beginning to strike home.
