lots of bananas, a bike and a boat
Day on a bike!
Awoke quite early after a record 12hours sleep to the sound of heavy rain and a grumbling storm! Eventually got up and made us some tea from the tray that had been left outside our door. It was still raining heavy so we made a run for it to breakfast. This little sprint vaguely counted as exercise so we both tucked into our three course without the full level of glutonous guilt that we are having eating all this lovely food. During breakfast the man with the bike arrived...still pouring with rain so not sure if this was a welcome arrival.
Anyhow shortly after breakfast it dried up and we headed off on an adventure Numwi which is on the west coast. Riding along was a real taste of Zanzibar. As we rode through the villages kids would jump out waving and village live was as rich and colourful as you can imagine.
We eventually reached the coast and took quite a while to make it to the beach. Things here had changed quite a bit since Paul was here 12 years ago. The only way to access the beach was through resort complexes so we took our chances and headed to one that paul remembered going to before. The resort itself had a very unassuming entrance which then opened out into a really amazing beach. We grabbed a quick bite to eat and then headed for a little stroll. Quite touristy now but breathtakingly beautiful. Took a few pics of this vista with one husband and his boat but decided on this one as it summed up how utterly tranquil it is here.
