A royal wave

Today Violet is 15 months old.  To mark the occasion she wore a rather fetching strawberry themed dress and matching hat and posed while we took pictures.  There were several of us snapping away and it must have been rather distracting for our little model to have us all vying for her attention.  I didn't get any shots that I really liked face on so instead  here is one of her waving rather regally at the front window of our house.  Recently she has taken to waving at the window, regardless of whether there is anyone passing or not (and usually there isn't!)

A royal style wave seems appropriate today, as tomorrow Queen Elizabeth II will become the longest reigning UK monarch.  At about 5:30pm (1630 GMT) on Wednesday, Elizabeth, 89, who is also the nation's oldest ever monarch, will have surpassed the 63 years, 7 months, 2 days, 16 hours and 23 minutes that her great-great-grandmother Queen Victoria spent on the throne.  A most remarkable achievement.
