Sunday Funday - San Juan del Sur

What a crazy few days we've just had!!! About to get on a bus to Costa Rica now. It was either that or rehab!

We arrived in San Juan on Thursday and checked in to our hostel Pacha Mama 2 which Amy and Venetia who were ahead of us had booked. The nights leading up to Sunday Funday got bigger and better. Every night the 10 of us would gather by our small pool for beers and rum and the session would kick off, then we'd head to the other Pacha Mama for dancing and then either stay there for the night or kick on to another bar. One night we went on an organised bar crawl around the small town starting at the Canadian bar. One of the nights in Pacha Mama was a fancy dress theme and somehow my last minute assembled priest costume managed to win me a free ticket for Sunday Funday.

Each day we'd nurse our hangovers by lazing by the pool, grabbing lunch in the nearby bagel place or the Mexican stand. Otherwise we'd head down and chill on the beach. The day before Sunday Funday we found a bar right on the beach to watch the FA Cup final.

The morning of Sunday Funday the group of us along with Rutger and Brad, two South African guys who we'd met a few times in Guatemaka went to Pacha Mama at 10am to buy our tickets and receive our free top and then returned there for the party kicking off at 1pm.

Sunday Funday basically consists of a massive day long party / pool party taking place over 4 venues. As you can imagine it's a bit of a blur but I do remember the first bar was everyone gathering and the atmosphere beginning to build and beer pong already being played. The second bar Anna's, was right on the beach and had a massive pool. We were there for a good while and things got messy with everyone hammered by the time we left there and hopped on the back of trucks which brought us to the 3rd bar Naked Tiger. This was up on a hill above the town and had an awesome pool and garden where everyone partied into the night. Lastly and late in the night the trucks brought everyone back down to town and to the final bar / club.

Everyone was in great form on the day and it was an awesome party. We met lots of people we'd seen throughout our trip including a group of English guys who'd been in Surfing Turtle with us and three Aussies and an American guy, Charlie, who'd been on our Semuc Champey tour. A great day a night, but we're on serious struggle street today. Having spent the morning dying in the pool, we've just had the last supper with the lads who fly home tomorrow and we're about to get a bus into Costa Rica with Steve, Sam and Becky with Amy and Venetia following in a day or two.
