Prior to my walk in Fairhaven this afternoon, when I took these photos, I had the pleasure of sitting next to Washington State Senator Kevin Ranker at Village Books, where he was holding an informal chat session for anyone who wanted to talk with him. Given the time of day, it was no surprise that the attendees were retirees, but that did not diminish the perspicacity of the questions or his answers.

Kevin Ranker is a member of the Democratic Party, as I have been my entire life, and "an outspoken advocate for the environment, equality, and civil rights," as this website notes. If only all our politicians were as well-educated, thoughtful, intelligent, and committed as he is!
