The Difference between Apathy and Ignorance
Back to work today after a three day break...
It's going to be a long and busy one filled with screaming children, hacked off customers and addicts off their faces on whatever recreational delight they are trying to withdraw from
I feel like I'm saying 'I don't know' a lot in my job right now, mostly because I'm newly qualified and there's a lot of stuff I don't know. But all the same, people expect me to know the answers to the questions they haven't yet asked
I did learn something new though - I do care about people. I thought I'd lost it somewhere in my five years of training but it's still there. And that's what matters to me, what will make me a good doctor somewhere down the line
Unfortunately for us, this care is shrouded in policy and protocol and leaves us very little room for manoeuvre. It prevents us from actually doing good.
I look forward to my autonomy in four years time. It might actually help someone. As for pharmacy, the difference between ignorance and apathy? I don't know and I don't care
