beneath the bark

It is raining again tonight, so lit the fire, caught this split Silver Birch log before it was put on the fire. Just loved the textures, colours, patterns and smoothness of the inside of the trunk... see extra for shot with the bark in tact.. it also burns very well, strong and a lot of heat.
