I asked George why he was charging round the house like a deranged smurf, with a hot-water bottle cover for a hat. 

Turns out he was actually aiming for some kind of Cossack/Rasputin look, so I dug out  the fur hat I got in Prague many years ago.  He seemed to instinctively look into the middle distance, like a hero of the Revolution.
