Memento

We're home.

We've enjoyed our adventure, but I suspect we will not do another - unless as part of a larger group.  With only 2 people, it is difficult to enjoy the leisurely pace, as someone is always having to concentrate on the steering, so cannot share the sight seeing as effectively.  And the locks are hard work.

This is a small memento of our canal holiday.  We looked as some horseshoes earlier, but they all had "Good luck" or "Best wishes" painted on them - all very well if you are buying them as gifts for someone getting married, but not particularly apposite when buying them as a souvenir.

I'd almost given up hope of finding something that was not too tacky.  But there was a small shop at the Anglo Welsh base when we returned our boat.  W will (I insist) put this up in our entrance porch.  I also bought a fridge magnet - a picture of a kingfisher.  We did see kingfishers a couple of times - but just flashes of green and blue flying away from the boat.
