The Fishes

These lovely little fish were painted by two young ladies during WWII on the walls of the Underground Bunker of the U-Boat Hqs for officers in La Rochelle in an attempt to humanise the bunker which was very comfortable complete with its own bar and the company of the fairer sex and even a black cat which was the emblem of the U-boat Squadrons - extremely interesting place to visit
