The Show
A chilly day.
We went to see a revival of the show 'The Cheviots, the Stag and the black, black Oil. It is all about the Highland Clearances and the effect on the crofting lands of Scotland's northern counties and the Hebridean Islands. Firstly, they were driven out to make way for sheep, then the shooting Estates and finally, the multi national oil Companies. It was last performed in 1973.
It was told through drama, song and Ceilidh dances, to which the audience were invited to participate.
It was very sobering and you could feel the contemporary desires for Independence being stirred up. Apologies for the quality of the picture - I could only use my iPhone and the lighting wasn't conducive to a good shot.
