My favourite work of art
“Pick your favourite piece,” I said to 4-year-old Sophia.
Without hesitation she walked straight to one fragment of earth in a glass cabinet.
Ouch!
This is the second time this has happened during my exhibition at Dunblane museum. I don’t know whether to be flattered or dismayed because the piece in question was done at the last minute by M. I asked if he could help me with preparing some dried earth for the cabinet.
And it’s his piece that folk keep choosing….
Moreover, I am reminded of the words of a wise and experienced art lecturer who said to me one day:” Pay special attention to what children choose. They are not influenced by art theory or a desire to please the artist.”
