The Wild Dogs
This camp is famous for its pack of wild dogs. The guides picked them up obviously hunting. Like the lion attack we were right in amongst the action. I was a bit more prepared for photos this time. The first attack on the Buffalo failed, but the dogs (about 16 or 17 of them) had split the herd and the separated group were mainly females and young which are easier prey. The second attack was successful and they caught a calf. The next part of the scene was quite gruesome and after a little while I stopped shooting. Most people who go on safari talk about hoping to see a kill. In reality it is not pleasant. I know its survival of the fittest etc. but that's why, in retrospect, we were glad the lion attack failed (see previous entry 7th June)
