Everlasting

What a wonderful day we've had today.  After a great brekkie catchup with Big Al and Jill we decided that we would set ourselves to brave the crowds and head up to King Park to start investigating where all the wildflowers were.  Well to be honest, they were everywhere.....silly me!!

We parked the car right near a bunch of red and green kangaroo paws that were minding there own business in the bush.  After scrambling around with the macro lens for a bit I noticed the most exquisite orchid at my feet. From that moment on we were tip toeing around to make sure we didn't tread on any of the precious gems.  There were about 10 stop the car moments at that one spot and we weren't even in the car.  It seemed that everywhere we looked there was another wonderful specimen.

I have added a couple of extras tonight but thought I should start a Flickr page so that I can add some others as the days progress.  I really want to be able to share the joy of it all to the best of my ability.  I chose the humble everlasting as my blip because they are just magnificent en mass and incredibly beautiful taken in macro.  The petals feel for all the world like fine paper and just as their name says, they are everlasting.

I really love the first extra one, it's as busy as can be, but it sums up the incredible nature of the park at the moment.  Everywhere you look there is something going on.  If you look really closely you will see the bud that is about to pop its top right next to the glorious yellow blossom.  The second one is of the humble Geraldton Wax that is just prolific throughout the park at the moment.  I'm not sure if my third extra is the donkey orchid, I have to do some research, but I'll come back when I have more information.  Anyway, who cares, I just love it!!

I just want to thank 60plus for so kindly hosting the TinyTuesday challenge over the past couple of weeks.  Happy to say that Freyad has stepped up to the mark for the next 3 weeks of September, so keep those images rolling in.  I had a lovely time yesterday catching up as much as I could on the past two weeks entries.  Just wonderful.
