Let's talk
The grand plan was to have lunch in a highly-recommended Danish restaurant not far from where we're staying, but their web site was poorly designed and lacking in basic information. We'd understood that it was open from 11:00 on Sundays, but when we got there it was closed and a sign told us a buffet lunch would be available between 1:00 and 5:00. We went off to pass the time and finally find a little place that was open and served us a lovely jug of sangria.
As we sat there we spotted a bus pass by advertising boat trips, we checked it online and decided to give it a go later on. Back at the Danish place we were surprised to see it very busy, and even more surprised to be asked if we had a reservation and to be told that we couldn't be accommodated. We left in high dudgeon and were forced to settle for a snack in the Yumbo Centre instead. That's where I spotted these guys at another table, deep in what all too often constitutes conversation these days. All the time we and they were there, one or the other and often both were busy on their phones. Weird.
So off we went to catch a boat to take us to the four villages along the south west coast of Gran Canaria. That plan had to be abandoned too because bus times to the starting point were awkward and the last one back in the evening was too early to allow any time in any of the villages. Frustrated and disappointed, Carl very graciously allowed me to thrash him at mini golf, after which we did some supermarket shopping for materials for an evening meal.
