Fish wives of Nairn

When the herring shoals were plentiful, many young women followed the fleets around the various ports cleaning, gutting and boxing the fish to sell. Their work was backbreaking but the stories of their humour and dedication are still remembered. This is the statue in Nairn to honour them. It shows great character I think.
