People at Work #4

Lifeguard. Somebody has to do it. She was too far away for me to take a picture of her on her surfboard with her Jack Russell Terrier in front of her, but she was happy to pose for me once she came ashore.

We took the three amigos (Ozzie, Blake and Rudy) to the annual "Dog Bark" at the Spring Lake swimming lagoon this morning. At the end of the season, it is closed to humans and goes to the dogs for three weekends. It is always a riot of wet, happy canines.

Tennis balls, frisbees and other toys are available to all comers, but Ozzie prefers to bring his own sticks from home. Blake doesn't really want the stick, but he desperately wants to take one away from Ozzie.  Ozzie has only to swim out into the middle of the lake beyond Blake's comfort level, but eventually he has to come back in where Blake is waiting. . Rudy, whose legs are only three inches long prefers to hang about the water's edge where he can get his feet wet and his belly filthy. I've put a couple of pictures in the extras which show the different dogs and their levels of swimming competence, as well as Ozzie and Blake "sharing" a stick.

There was a large contingent of black labs there this morning and we lost Blake a couple of times, but it is well fenced with a double gated entrance and exit so he soon turned up again when it was time for a shower on the way back to the car.
