A Pretty Volunteer

Dear Diary,

I haven't planted morning glories in the garden in many years, seven I would guess.  Yet every year one will sprout and grow, holding onto anything it can find.  It is such a determined and pretty little volunteer!

We spend most of the time focusing on the flowers that we seldom pay any attention to the leaves but it was the tiny heart shaped leaf in the upper right of this photograph that first caught my attention.  It is like a very early Valentine from the garden!

This week begins the serious preparations for my trip to New York.  Although it is a short trip, just 4-5 days, there is much to do.  I will need to cram a lot of exploring into three days so finding addresses and locations is important.  Still, it is very exciting to finally be able to visit places that were so important to my family's story.  It will connect me to their lives in a very real way and that is important to me.
