Brian Close RIP.

When I was growing up Brian Close was my boyhood hero. An uncompromising Yorkshire cricketer, fearless, bold, challenging and successful. At one time I knew all his stats and was so excited when he captained Yorkshire then England with equal success. A controversial and at times difficult character he was one of Yorlshire's greats.

In 2010 we had an event on the ground and Brian and his wife came for the afternoon and shred my dinner table. It was great to meet him after all that time.
