West Ham 2 Newcastle 0
First night game of the new season, and as you can see from peoples clothing the weather is getting colder here in London.
In the foreground you can see the back of the 'World Cup Champions Sculpture', often called the 'Bobby Moore statue' here in the East End of London ( Details of sculpture can be found HERE ) which is often a meeting point for people going to the match.
In the background is the beautifully designed 'Boleyn Tavern' which was built in 1899.
West Hams ground (The Boleyn Ground) and the Public House refer to the fact that the ground was built on the land where once stood the Boleyn Castle, a former home of Anne Boleyn - I'm sure the area must have been much posher in her day!!!
This is frequented by West Ham fans on match days due to its close proximity to the ground.
A good game today with a comfortable 2-0 victory to West Ham
