Riechsparteitagsgelaende

Slightly eerie and surreal visit to begin our stay in Nuremberg - to the area built as a parade ground for Nazi rallys. .

This is the congress hall, designed by Albert Speer to be the great symbol of the regime's dominance. It was never finished, as war broke out and prevented any more work being done on it.

Along with the parade ground and famous zeppelin field, this is now partly a memorial to what took place on those dark years, and partly a centre for local festivals, motor races and pop concerts.

Seems appropriate to just leave it there and use it for frivolity. Today, the Nuremberg Festival was in the process of being set up - so next to the incomplete congress hall is an incomplete ferris wheel. The difference is that the wheel WILL be completed.
