They Might be Giants!
Another sunny day. And hot too! So we set off for Whiting Bay from where we spent the afternoon walking the wooded glen to Glenashdale Falls by way of the remains of an Iron Age fort. The falls themselves are 45 metres high and really spectacular. We crossed the top of the falls from the north before heading along the south side of Glenashdale Burn to the viewing platform which Spokes loved but which made me feel decidedly shaky-legged when I looked down!
Then it was back down the glen before tackling the steep walk up to the early Bronze Age burial site known as the Giant's Graves. These consist of two chambers which are over 5000 years old and which are situated so as to afford sensational views across the island and out to sea. Our forebears really understood the impact of location, location, location!
And we arrived just as the sun was low enough in the sky to make this shot possible!
