PROTOTYPE

I put out a call for wine corks* recently.  The Prof was willing to oblige by upping his normal wine intake, but there are so few bottles with corks these days.  A helpful pal suggested trying a shop that sells beer making kit and so I finally managed to complete the pigeon proof bird feeder.  It works too. Pigeons can't get their plump chests close enough while the woodpecker has no problem. It was already squirrel proof but for starlings...well, I am afraid for starlings I keep a loaded water pistol.  Haven't seen a starling near the feeder for weeks. Meanwhile, we rejoice watching the little ones ride round on it like a carousel. Do you think I am speciesist? And do you think I care?

*The wine corks have nothing to do with keeping pigeons at bay - they are there to stop us poking our eyes out on the stiff wire.
