Tree Spirit

Its trunk is its raw strength, its limbs and branches are its beautiful form, and its leaves, flowers, and fruit are its fetching dress, but the spirit and soul of a tree are in its roots.  Sometimes the stump of a "dead" tree will re-sprout and others, it simply drys and rots away.  In the former, it seems to me, the tree's spirit remains'; in the latter, it has escaped through the stump's cracks and pores to become part of a greater being.
