Bad Mojo and Dharma Blues
Ps, reminder to self.... (sometimes it is hard to be smart), never never give another motorist the finger in Italy. They don't like it. They don't like it a lot!! You will be assured to an esculation of road rage. Each and every time I have made this mistake, the results have been very similar. lol
Been a couple funky days and the mojo has been wavering. I got scolded Monday for taking a picture from the car of a runner. I didn't take the picture as I try to be inconspicuous and to respect the people I am photographing. As I was lifting the camera the runner gave me an angry face and started flapping. So I put the camera down immediately and just smiled back. lol, so be it.
Today was a different matter. Heavy traffic and a truck was trying to cut around me from the right turning lane while driving through a stop light. By law of noses, I let him by when he nudged in front of me. Then I had a break and so I put my nose back in front. That should have been it, but he jammed the gas and forced his way into my path. He missed me by millimeters and I was furious honking the horn and yelling. Just afterward the lane opened up next to me and I won by law of horsepower to weight ratio very easily. At that point, I very purposely gave him a BIG finger. I know it has consequences and knew there was one more stop light before the highway entrance. oops, the light turned red! Another car was behind me, but I saw the truck door open and this burly mass of a man climb down. At this point, the blood in my head is pounding and the windows are going up FAST. The sob walked up to my car and forcefully tried to open the door!!! What was he going to do? Pull me out and throw me on the pavement???? I only gazed at him briefly when he pulled on the door handle and then shifted my gaze back to the road in front of me. Lots of shouting and rapping on my window. Thankfully a very short light and off I sprang leaving him standing in the road to tend with all the other cars and traffic. He gave one last very forceful rap on the window. I don't think he wanted to break it, but it must have hurt his big paw a bit.
Anyway, just a FYI to any foreign travellers here in Italy, don't shoot the finger out of anger or for any reason otherwise!!! lol
