An Evening..........

.........of long ears and underwings!

I took Rosie to a moth and bat evening at one of the local Nature reserves this evening, and it was wonderful!
The young lady talking about the bats was very informative (did you know Sussex is the only county with every sort of bat found in the UK?) and better still, had brought some bats with her for us to look at. Rosie was well chuffed, especially as they have been looking after a bat at the wildlife hospital recently. After seeing the bats we went for a walk with the bat detectors, then came back to inspect the moth trap which among other things had captured a large hornet!
today's Blip is a Brown long-eared bat Piecotus auritus, a common species, and the one most likely to be flitting about over my trap and eating my moths! I think he is quite sweet in a not sweet sort of way!
All in all a wonderful evening!
