Backdrop

Went for a city walk today and showed a good friend some secret places in the city she'd never seen before, even though she was born and bred here. Some of these were new like South Street Park which contains this amphitheatre which has the city as its backdrop - the tramway and the train station in the foreground, the city itself in the middle, and the moors beyond the city in the background. Others were older, like the Cholera monument, even higher up, and beyond it, a shady woodland, all within a few minutes walk of the city centre. As was only right, we rounded off our morning with a fine lunch.
