Refugee Donations - High Wycombe HQ Central
Spent a happy morning helping to sort donations of food, clothing, bedding, tents, firewood and other items for refugees, at our local central drop-off point for these. People have been unbelievably generous - what you see in the picture is just a small proportion of what we've received. The lovely lady who started this all off was thinking she'd just receive a car-load to take over to Calais - now we are looking at a 40 foot lorry, plus a couple of vans, to transport these items to those stranded there and elsewhere in Europe!
But perhaps most moving of all for me has been the way in which this project has brought our whole town together - I have already made several new friends, including ones from our Muslim community. It feels like just the beginning of us finding other ways to act together, to help in this crisis in which each of us is caught up, in one way or another.
