I've been resting all day because of flu. In the morning skies went black and it started to rain heavily. Soon after thunder and lighting arrived. It was second active lighting day this year, in total 3000 flashes to ground. This summer we have only had very few thunderstorms, because of cold weather.

Emma had terrible migraine attack and Leevi came home for weekend holiday. In the picture an orchid in our living room.

Finland is struggling with poor economic situation and refugee crisis.

An estimated 30-thousand people gathered in Helsinki today to protest against the government's proposed restrictions of workers' pay and benefits (cuts to overtime, Sunday, sick leave, holiday pay...) The demonstration also halted numerous daily services today. These included all public transport, air traffic, shop opening hours and daycare availability. The demonstration officially ran from 11 am to 1 pm, but some services were closed all day.

The number of migrants arriving in Finland today has been the highest in a single day since the Russian Revolution, approximately thousand asylum-seekers have arrived today. The figure from yesterday was 500 people, who came into the country via Tornio in northern Finland.

Finland is especially favoured as a destination for migrants coming from Iraq. Some 6,700 Iraqis have arrived in Finland, the next most populous nationalities are from Somalia and Afghanistan. Only 267 Syrian refugees have arrived in Finland.
